SAN MIGUEL ESKRIMA is a weapons-based system. Hence various weapons are utilized as a training tool to learn universally related skills. Espada y daga training is heavily stressed upon the practitioner to learn the rudiments of SME principles and internalization of movements.
SME is characterized as simple, powerful, fluid yet highly efficient movements. Deep, wide, low stances are preferred for its balance, stability, and power. Emphasis is placed on keen body awareness, proper weight distribution, and center of balance. Thus fast powerful precise bunal (strikes) is truly evident. This can also be expressed through combative katas (forms).
